Our objective is to play a key role in the education process by empowering the mind of the learning public through publications that are relevant and user-friendly.
Background
Caribbean Book Distributors Limited was established in April 1971 and was engaged in the publication and distribution of textbooks in association with a company based in Singapore known as Far Eastern Publishers Limited.
The company has produced textbooks for various levels of study including Primary School, Secondary School, GCE Ordinary Level and GCE Advanced Level. All textbooks produced were recommended and approved by the various Ministries of Education in the region and have been in use over the period.
Recent Developments
In keeping with the mandate of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States to promote a Science and Technology Education Programme for the CARICOM region, Caribbean Book Distributors 1996 Limited undertook the challenge to satisfy the Programme. In the last year, a series of books were published for the Caribbean Primary and Lower Secondary Schools titled “Modern Science and Technology for the Caribbean”.
This series was designed specifically in accordance with the general objectives as outlined in the CARICOM document for the promotion of science and technology in the school curriculum.
Additionally members of the Curriculum Harmonisation Education Committee made valuable contributions to the development of the series of books, ensuring that the primary objectives of students attaining an acceptable level of knowledge, skills and attributes associated with this discipline area achieved.
The series is comprised of a set of 21 books formatted as follows:
