Caribbean Book Distributors Ltd. (CBDL) began operations in 1971, when the Managing Director of Far Eastern Publishers in Singapore visited Trinidad and Tobago, and established a foundation with local partners for the publishing of textbooks in the Caribbean. At that time, the Caribbean depended solely on books published in the United Kingdom. Since then, CBDL has continued to publish high quality textbooks and achieve higher levels of success, to become one of the leading publishers in the Caribbean.
In 1996 CBDL experienced some major operational challenges, a consequence of which key changes were made in its directorship and shareholdings. The company was also re-registered under the name Caribbean Book Distributors (1996) Limited. The more experienced staff members were retained, and the company continued to realise significant and rapid growth. We have since formed associations with Publishing Houses in India and Africa, embracing the concept that knowledge is the currency of the new economic order, and the world is no longer limited to geographical boundaries. Keeping in mind that globalisation now plays a key factor in the inherent business planning for many organisations, our mission has expanded to a new dimension.
As our company continues reasserting itself in an increasingly competitive industry, CBDL continues to strive for higher levels of excellence. By utilising our Caribbean human resources to produce high quality publications, our objective is to harness experience with talent, and strengthen our technological resources, to produce publications that are internationally accepted.
